Scientific Breakthrough:

Vytrus Biotech has been granted a U.S. patent for its wound-healing actives, Clarivine™ and Centella Reversa, valid until 2038. The patented technology features cell-free plant culture supernatants rich in peptides and natural plant exosomes—highly sought-after in dermocosmetics for their regenerative properties. Regulations & Compliance:

The European Commission is tightening safety regulations with the upcoming Omnibus Act VIII, banning and restricting a wide range of cosmetic ingredients—such as sodium perborate, silver, and hexyl salicylate—deemed unsafe. The updated rules will impact formulation, labeling, and marketability across the EU.

From 1 May 2026, all non-compliant cosmetics must be removed from the market, triggering urgent reformulation needs for brands. The legislation introduces updated restrictions across Annexes II-V of the Cosmetics Regulation, reflecting recent CMR classifications and SCCS safety options. Visit Coslaw for more information

Company Update:

Gattefossé is partnering with French CRO Ambiotis to explore the role of pro-resolving lipids in combating skin ageing. Their research reveals that age-related changes in these lipids disrupt communication between macrophages and fibroblasts, leading to inflammation and extracellular matrix degradation. By targeting these lipids, the duo aims to create integrative, bio-inspired and anti-ageing solutions that support the skin’s natural homeostasis and preserve vitality.

Sustainability Update:

Inolex has launched a carbon reduction strategy aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and CDP. The move reinforces its long-term commitment to science-backed sustainability and limiting global warming to 1.5°C. “As a company, we always take a science-backed approach, and staking a position on climate change is no different. We are committed to doing our part in reducing emissions to create a more sustainable future (...)” said EVP Bradley Cook.
