Updated Glossary of Cosmetic Ingredients: Everything you need to know

Written by Covalo Team | May 30, 2022

The new glossary includes 30070 ingredients, and this version will be put in operation from 29 April 2023. Its objective is protection of human health and safety, and to help ensure uniform labeling and facilitating identification of cosmetic ingredients.

To update the glossary, the Commission has used the new INCI names as published by the Personal Care Product Council and has also corrected existing ingredient names that were erroneously reported or omitted. This glossary still includes only the INCI names of substances, without reference to CAS numbers.

Selling cosmetic products can come with regulatory challenges when trying to keep up with the requirements of different markets across the world. The ingredient list is one of the most informative parts of the label, providing an insight into the product composition, which means it is important to write it correctly and keep up to date.
