Covalo set out to connect the industry from day one, bringing personal care's suppliers, brands, and data into one place. Five years ago, that meant making ingredient discovery and sourcing faster and easier. That focus has since grown into the world's largest ingredients platform for personal care, and surfaced a bigger challenge: keeping information consistent, evaluating complex data, and connecting people efficiently from search to sourcing decision.
Suppliers develop new technologies, formulators and R&D teams translate research into products, all while brands continuously respond to shifting consumer expectations. But much of that intelligence stays fragmented across systems, documents, and individual relationships; hard to compare or validate.
What the industry needs is infrastructure: something that makes information easier to discover, understand, compare, and use. That has always been Covalo's role – and today, the foundation runs deeper: a stronger base for how suppliers share innovation, how buyers evaluate opportunities, and how people connect throughout the sourcing journey.
The Covalo Marketplace remains central to that experience, helping brands, formulators, and product developers discover innovation and connect with suppliers. But discovery is only the first step – teams still need to evaluate, compare, and collaborate before a sourcing decision is made, and suppliers need effective ways to manage and present their own information.
The Covalo Data Platform is the shared foundation behind the Marketplace. By structuring ingredient, product, and company data within one secure system, it supports more consistent information and stronger connections across that journey, for suppliers and buyers alike.
As Covalo evolved, its identity no longer fully reflected the company it had become: originally built for ingredient discovery, its role today is much broader. Our rebrand is a realignment between strategy, product, and experience, not just a visual refresh:
"Our new brand reflects the broader role Covalo is taking on. We have grown beyond ingredient discovery, but our purpose remains rooted in the same belief that inspired us five years ago: better access to information and stronger connections can help the industry move forward."
— Timo von Bargen, co-Founder and co-CEO at Covalo
The project was developed together with Munzinger Brand & Experience, which supported the strategic foundations of the new brand, and Kids Creative Agency, which led the visual identity and website experience. The wider Covalo team was involved throughout — strategy, design, and technology — so the new brand was shaped by the people building Covalo every day; not just designed around them. Covalo's ambition has always been to be the data backbone connecting the consumer goods industry, and the new identity is the clearest expression of that ambition yet.
This shift reflects a company built for data – but technology alone isn't what moves this industry forward:
"Personal care is built on expertise, collaboration, and trusted relationships. Behind every ingredient is a team of people, and behind every sourcing decision are conversations that require context, experience, and judgment.
We believe technology should support those relationships, not replace them. Our goal is to reduce complexity, make information easier to use, and help people connect more effectively – while keeping human expertise at the center."
— Yann Chilvers, co-Founder and co-CEO at Covalo
Openness, collaboration, and curiosity remain the values guiding how Covalo grows. As always:
Built for Data. Human at Heart.
This means the platform itself is clearer and easier to navigate. The previous experience centered on ingredient discovery with a marketplace-first interface; the new look broadens that foundation with a more expressive visual system, stronger use of color, and a more intuitive content hierarchy – connected across Covalo's growing range of products.
The refreshed website helps users understand faster what Covalo offers and where to find what's relevant to them – whether they're discovering ingredients, managing product data, or connecting with partners. Each product, from the Marketplace to the Customer and Brand Portals, keeps its own purpose while staying recognizably part of Covalo.
This next stage means expanding the Data Platform's product information and master data management capabilities, and developing industry-specific AI agents for practical workflows – from data extraction to regulatory compliance checks – built to reduce manual work while keeping human judgment at the center.
For suppliers, this means better ways to manage and share product information, increase visibility, and reach the right customers. For brands and buyers, it means more structured data, clearer workflows, and stronger support when evaluating ingredients and making sourcing decisions.
